Today marks two weeks that I've been here.I was naive enough to believe I would be immune to culture shock but after the first couple of days I didn't know if I made the right choice coming here. There's nothing wrong with the people, the food or even the bucket showers. But it took a bit to get used to the transportation system, the lack of urgency to get somewhere on time and even the contradictions of the court system (super formal yet wicked disorganized). I'm happy to say that I'm definitely getting into the swing of things. There's nothing like catching your tro tro just before it leaves, wind in your face as the mate jumps into the moving vehicle and slams the door. You can sit back and relax because you know you're gonna be on it for a while and if you need a snack, drink, ironing board (ok exaggerating a little), no worries because as soon as you hit the inevitable traffic you will be bombarded with a traveling shopping mall with a plethora of goodies. I got 8 weeks to go and something tells me they're gonna fly.
Don't forget to watch the US take on Slovenia today at 10am eastern time. And the Black Stars face Australia at Noon eastern and Saturday !
